Wessington Springs seeks volunteers and support
Tornadoes that struck the area in and around Wessington Springs fierce, but warning sirens and National Weather Service alerts saved lives. See images of the destruction. You can support the efforts via volunteer service or financial contributions to the Red Cross. Cash donations designated to the Wessington Springs Relief Fund may be dropped off at American Bank & Trust locations in Wessington Springs, Alpena, Huron, Wolsey, Miller, Huron-Walmart, Pierre, Mellette and De Smet.

 

Designs unveiled for Yankton Collector Well
Kyle Goodmanson of the City of Yankton presented options for the design of a structure that'll house the collector well as the city improves its water infrastructure. You can learn more about the project here.

 

Yankton man bringing hard rock to town
Brad Alvarado has never promoted or put on a concert in his life, but his love for Christian hard rock led him to take a chance. It worked. On July 11, he'll host This City Awaits, a Fort Worth, Texas-based band, as well as 3 Hours, a Christian band from Sioux Falls. The show's set for the Summit Activities Center and tickets are $8. Bonus program seeks to pay South Dakota veterans
Officials are hoping to get the word out widely to all South Dakota veterans about a financial bonus program for which they may be eligible. Veterans of the Gulf War or the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq may be eligible, according to John Fette who oversees the program in Pierre.
